SIGGRAPH VANCOUVER!!!

I finally got around to sifting through the mountains of photos I took in Vancouver, BC.  Some friends and I all went to SIGGRAPH last year in August.  It was amazingly beautiful in Vancouver.  The city was great, the landscape was gorgeous, and the conference was enlightening, inspiring, and entertaining!  Without further ado, here is a collection of some of the better photos I took.  Enjoy! :)

Took these on Bowen Island at night.  Just some random patterns.

Another one.

We went hiking and biking around Bowen and found an amazing overlook.

Different shots of the bay.

We actually went Kayaking just near the bend.  The mountains are so HUGE!

Under the pier near the dock.  I took tons of reference photos for textures and different surface and structure studies.

On the boat to Bowen Island.

We had breakfast and coffee at this really nice little cafe on the main road in Bowen.

The Bike/Hiking Trail.

Booth for Rapid 3D prototyping.  3D printing was a big deal at SIGGRAPH last year.

The Killer Whale sculpture is just outside the Convention Center in Downtown.

Some of the cool modern architecture.

Outside the Convention Center

Being from Arizona, you don't see much like this.  A Chevron station in the middle of the bay.

Vancouver at night is a fun town!  Especially downtown.

The SIGGRAPH kids of 2011!

Bowen Island, here we come!

I snapped this picture at our hotel on Bowen Island, and we all got creeped out by "skull" shape in her breath.

The entrance to the exhibition hall.

The Convention center had this really cool "living" roof.  The entire roof had plants growing on it.

Inside the center were lots of different conference halls.  The one we are headed for here was the PIXAR panel for La Luna.  The short was amazing!

So, my Dad had this thing about Kokanee beer.  He made it a point for me to try it when I got up there.  I have to say, it is one of the best, freshest tasting, light beer I have ever had.  It was really good considering it is basically like Coor's in Canada.

The Exhibition Hall floor.  So many great booths!

Gastown has tons of fun bars and shops.  Definitely a cool place to see the sights.

The coffee shop we would visit before heading to the conference.

The line for the PIXAR teapot collectable.

After we found it, we pretty much ate here all the time.  Who doesn't love breakfast!

COFFEE!

The city also had it's bit of strange too.  I think that guy/girl has a tail...?

Psycho Mantis!

This is the foodcourt near the convention center.  It actually goes underground and connect to the Hotel near the center.

The walls inside the convention center had these neat interconnect blocks of wood.  It made for a very cool pattern and style.

We found this near the docks on Bowen Island.  Couldn't help but take a picture!

More 3D Rapid Prototyping.
